The Straits Times index gained 1% to 2,267.46 at 5:10 p.m. close. Five stocks advanced for every two that declined of the gauge's 30 members.
The index failed to update for about an hour after opening due to a "technical issue," FTSE Group, which calculates and disseminates the index for the Singapore Exchange, said. It declined to elaborate on the cause of the problem.
