THE MARKET STARTED the week on a nervous note as bulls and bears moved aside for the pig as the swine flu epidemic spread from Mexico to four continents. Still, after its experience with SARS in 2003, Asia is better prepared and has rolled out its containment measures promptly and efficiently. After an initial slump, Asia's markets recovered to focus firmly back on the banks, principally the impact of the stress test results for US banks scheduled for May 4.
