The Straits Times Index dropped 1.2% to 2,648.76 at the close, wiping off gains of as much as 0.7% earlier. Four stocks declined for each that advanced on the 30-member gauge. The following shares were among the most active in the market today.
Cosco Corp. Singapore (COS SP), the shipbuilding unit of the world's largest operator of dry-bulk ships, fell 1.5% to $1.30. The company said yesterday that second-quarter profit dropped 71% to $37 million and full-year 2009 profit will be substantially lower than that of 2008.
