The Straits Times Index advanced 1.6% to 2,172.92 at the close, erasing losses of as much as 2.1%. Five stocks rose for every four that fell of the 30 companies on the gauge. The following stocks were among the most active in the market today, says Bloomberg.
Golden Agri-Resources (GGR SP), the world's second-biggest palm oil producer, dropped 2.6% to 37 cents, adding to a 22% decline during the preceding three days. CIMB-GK Research downgraded the stock to "neutral" from "trading buy" and cut its share-price target to 39 cents from 46 cents as first-quarter profit dropped and the company said it was considering a rights issue.
